What if I want to change my domain name?
To change your domain name, we will need some information and you will want to ask yourself a few questions before getting started. If this is the first time you are thinking of changing your domain, there is no charge. After that you may be charged up to $250 for every domain change after. Below are a few questions to think about followed by a form to get started when you are ready.
1) Have you already established an online presence with your current domain name?
2) Is there a change to your business that necessitates the change?
3) Do you know for sure the alternative name you want is available? (Check here)
If you’re fine with the time and fee required, and you know the domain name is available, the next steps are below.
First: Submit this form
After we get the completed form we will proceed to the following steps below.
Resubmit IDX Paperwork
We will likely need a new copy of your IDX Paperwork so that we can submit this to your MLS. Almost all MLS boards require that we submit any domain name changes to them.
If you need the paperwork we'll send it to you to fill out.
Then we’ll send it to your MLS and get approval for you to change your domain name.
Once Approved
We will change your site domain name and route your IDX to the new search site. From the time requested to approval this could be a couple weeks to go live.
Branded Site Work
When we change your domain name, one of the things we have to do on the branded site is redirect and replace all of the subdomains for all agents on your sites. This means for each page we’ve created on your branded site we need to redirect those to the new domain. This will obviously change all of your links.
Search Site work and Lead Routing
Just like rerouting the Branded Site, we also have to reroute the Home Search Site and any sites connected with that as well as the tracking that is involved for your leads.
