Facebook Domain Verification Steps

PURPOSE

The purpose of this article is to walk you through verifying your domain on Facebook. Verifying your domain will allow Ylopo to run Facebook ads that redirect traffic to your website. 

Please review this 3-minute domain verification video tutorial below before completing the following steps.

STEP 1 - CLAIM YOUR DOMAIN IN YOUR FACEBOOK BUSINESS MANAGER ACCOUNT

1. Go to https://business.facebook.com/settings/owned-domains
   A.) If the link above doesn't work you can go to https://business.facebook.com/settings
   B.) Click Brand Safety > Domains
   
   
   
2. Next, click Add > Create New Domain
   
   
   
3. Type in your root domain and click Add (Note: For example, enter website.com, not www.website.com nor https://website.com).
   
   
   
4. If all steps were completed successfully, you will see your domain listed as Not Verified.

STEP 2 - ADD YOUR DNS TXT RECORD TO CONFIRM DOMAIN OWNERSHIP

1. Open a new tab and go to your domain registrar. (Note: If you’re unsure of where your domain was purchased, you can find this using the ICANN Lookup. If you are unsure of how to use ICANN Lookup, please see the article, How to use ICANN Lookup). 
2. Sign into your account and find the DNS records section for the same domain you just claimed. (Note: Usually, this can be found under a section labeled “Manage DNS” or something similar).
3. Follow your domain’s instructions to add the TXT record to your DNS configuration. You can view the article, How to Add a DNS TXT record, for instructions that are specific to a few common domains (for example, GoDaddy, Google, Wix, etc). Please see the most common configuration below.
   
   Host:Use the “@” symbol 
   Type:TXT 
   Data: Paste DNS TXT record from FB Business Manager
   TTL:30 minutes
   Click Save to add the TXT record
   
   
4. To locate the TXT record that needs to be added to your DNS, navigate back to your domain in Facebook Business Manager. Under “Verify your domain: Select one option” choose “Update the DNS TXT record with your domain registrar” from the drop-down menu. The TXT record can be copied from step 2.
   
   
   
5. After the TXT record is added, navigate back to Facebook Business Manager. Wait a few seconds, and then click “Verify Domain.”
   
   
   
6. If all steps were completed successfully, you will see the word Verified in green next to your domain name in FB Business Manager.

STEP 3 - SHARE YOUR VERIFIED DOMAIN WITH YLOPO

1. Go to https://business.facebook.com/settings/owned-domains (If the link above doesn't work you can go to https://business.facebook.com/settings then Click Brand Safety > Domains)
2. Select your verified domain if it's not already selected
3. Click one of the Assign Partners buttons
   
   
   
4. Add Ylopo’s Business ID: 927016414031005 and toggle on Link to Domain and Manage Domain then click Next and Done
   
   
5. If all steps were completed successfully, you will see Ylopo listed as a partner.

STEP 4 - ASSOCIATE YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE WITH YOUR VERIFIED DOMAIN

1. Go to https://business.facebook.com/settings/owned-domains (If the link above doesn't work you can go to https://business.facebook.com/settings then Click Brand Safety > Domains)
2. Select your verified domain if it's not already selected
3. Click Add Assets
   
   
4. Select your Facebook business page being used by Ylopo, and click Add then Done. (Note: If you don't see your Facebook business page under New Pages Experience, try clicking on Classic Pages to locate it).
   
   
5. If all steps were completed successfully, you will see the FB page listed under the Connected Assets tab.
